Coastal Wet Meadow

We transformed 5,000+ square feet of waterlogged lawn into a biodiverse wet meadow on the shore of Casco Bay. Species of native plants well-suited to silt-clay soils collectively manage stormwater; provide habitat for native insects; and require no additional inputs of fertilizer or mulch. A meandering raised boardwalk connects a seating area, pool, sauna, and the clients’ home. A hedgerow of native shrubs along the back edge of the meadow provides bird habitat and privacy.
